The technology laboratory for electrically-powered robots, established by the Shandong Electric Power Corporation, is the first of its kind in China and the key lab of the State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC).

After eight years of research, three types of robots were officially put on display; a "hot line robot", a "robot for substation equipment inspection" and an "inspection robot for the pressure components inside a boiler". All three have passed state inspections.
