A man in Qingdao, Shandong Province, won 6.5 million yuan ($855,000) before taxes playing the lottery on Sunday.

He narrowly missed a 5-million-yuan prize several years ago.

The lucky man, surnamed Wang, had spent 2 yuan on a lottery ticket that he bought out of a vending machine on Saturday.

Wang, a regular buyer of lottery tickets, missed the top prize several years ago after he changed a number on the ticket at the last minute.

Wang said he planned to use the money to repay his debts and cover his mother's medical costs.
